California – Best Interest Training

Required for Life Insurance beginning 7/1/25

As of January 1, 2025, California requires completion of best interest training under CA Regulation 263. Starting July 1, 2025, Protective will verify compliance with this training. Please note that if the best interest training is not completed prior to submitting an application, the file will be closed, and a new application must be submitted after the training completion date. Below are the details regarding the training requirements:

New training requirements

• A 4-hour training is required before selling non-term life insurance products (universal life and whole life), for all licenses issued or renewed on or after 1/1/2024.
• A 2-hour training is required before selling variable life insurance products (variable universal life), for all licenses issued or renewed on or after 1/1/2025.
• There is no training required for term products.
• All training must be completed prior to solicitation of business.
